ICARUS soars beyond traditional endless runners by combining the addictive vertical progression of Doodle Jump with the breathtaking aesthetics inspired by Journey. Developed over an intensive 50-hour period, this game challenges players to ascend ever higher while mastering the delicate balance between ambition and caution.
Development Journey
The project was split into two distinct phases: a week-long sprint to establish core mechanics, followed by meticulous polish and the implementation of a sophisticated procedural obstacle generation system. This approach allowed for both rapid prototyping and refined gameplay experiences.
Gameplay Elements
Players guide their kite through an endless vertical ascent, wielding the power of fire to propel themselves skyward. Each flight becomes a unique journey through procedurally generated obstacles, requiring quick reflexes and strategic resource management.
